Grimaldi Group’s newbuilding programme of 20 ro-ro vessels and car carriers is being complemented by further ropax acquisitions, said shipowner Emanuele Grimaldi.
The Naples-based group has confirmed it is in talks with Xiamen Shipbuilding over an order for six ro-ro vessels, in addition to six similar vessels worth $400m ordered last month at Jinling Shipyard.
But Grimaldi has also set his sights on acquiring two modern ropaxes from European companies, and lengthening two ropax vessels in the Grimaldi fleet at Italian shipyards.
