The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has said it is increasing the number of daily booking slots available for neopanamax-sized vessels.
Effective 7 May 2018, one additional booking slot will be offered to interested vessels, with the exception of LNG carriers.
This means eight such vessels will transit the neopanamax locks daily - four northbound and four southbound.
The ACP said it has also increased the maximum allowable beam for vessels using the new neopanamax locks.
The new rules will apply to vessels with a beam of 51.25
