European Union (EU) transport commissioner Violeta Bulc is urging regulators to increase greenhouse emission reduction targets as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) looks like heading towards a compromise deal to be announced on Friday.
TradeWinds understands that in the final stages of ongoing negotiations this week the IMO is working toward setting the reduction target at between 50% and 70% in CO2 emissions compared to the peak year 2008 by 2050.
