GMS says it was not the buyer of four vessels containing hazardous waste that wound up on breaking beaches.
As TradeWinds reported, Dutch prosecutors are looking to jail and fine three executives with the Seatrade Companies over the sale of four reefer ships in 2012. The ships went to yards in India, Bangladesh and Turkey for demolition.
Citing a press report, the advocacy group NGO Shipbreaking Platform said GMS bought the ships from a Seatrade holding company for eventual disposal at a breaking yard.
