C Demurrage has told owners to stick up for their rights following a recent arbitration award over a barley shipment.
The anonymous London ruling "is another example of demurrage as the common factor in a dispute involving the sale contract and the charterparty, and of the need for parties to perform their separate obligations," the demurrage financing company said.
The row arose from a 2014 cost and freight (CFR) sale of 3,000 tonnes of Ukrainian barley.
