Brazilian mining giant Vale is selling a transhipment ore carrier to India for green recycling, it is claimed.
Shipbreaking sources in Europe and the US say the 280,000-dwt Ore Fabrica (built 1993) has been sold for a firm $440 per ldt or $19.5m.
The ship was purchased as a single-hull VLCC Front Duchess from John Fredriksen’s Ship Finance International (SFI) for the same price in July 2009.
