A cross cultural ship naming pulled a crowd of over 120 at DSME’s Okpo Shipyard on 21 December as Yamal LNG shareholders joined shipowning partners Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and China Cosco Shipping for the project’s fifth ice-breaking LNG carrier.

The 172,410-cbm newbuilding Vladimir Rusanov is a Japanese and Chinese co-owned LNG carrier, built at a South Korean shipyard for a Russian project

The ice-breaking LNG carrier was named by Veronika Makeeva, who is director of the department for cooperation with state authorities for lead Yamal shareholder Novatek.
