The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) promoted Chevron Shipping president Mark Ross to the role of chairman.
Ross will be succeeding Shell’s head of shipping, Dr Grahaeme Henderson, who stepped down as OCIMF chairman in November after a three-year stint.
"I am delighted to pass on the baton to Mark who has served as vice-chair since 2015.," Henderson said.
