Greek owner Niovis Shipping has obtained a firm price for a 21-year-old panamax bulker — almost double the figure it would have fetched in the first half of 2016.
The Samsung Heavy Industries-constructed, 73,000-dwt Zed (built 1996) is reported sold to an undisclosed buyer for $6m. It was Niovis' only ship built before 2000.
The company first tried to sell the Zed in October last year, which it followed with a new effort in May.
