Simulation has changed unrecognisably in a very short time, says Offshore Simulation Centre chief executive Joel Mills.
Only five years ago, it took days of computer modelling to generate huge data files for analysis, while the visuals were more like a game environment, he says.
But thanks to the rapid increase in processing power and extremely powerful graphics cards, physics calculations can now be done in real time in an almost-real environment.
