US energy secretary Chris Wright has granted the first LNG project export authorisation since President Donald Trump reversed his predecessor Joe Biden’s freeze on new permits.
Commonwealth LNG, which wants to develop a 9.5-mtpa facility near Cameron, Louisiana, was given the conditional non-free trade agreement export authorisation from the Department of Energy (DOE) at the end of last week.
