The Norwegian Shipowners’ Association wants more dialogue on fighting the shadow fleet but does not think the conversation can happen at the International Maritime Organization.
The industry group’s chief executive Knut Arlid Hareide said it supports the sanctions levied on the ships carrying illicit oil cargoes from countries such as Russia, Iran and Venezuela, but that they could be better and more effective if the global west was willing to talk.
