Germany has won approval from the European Commission for €4.06bn ($4.2bn) in subsidies to support the operation of four floating storage and regasification units that the country chartered in at speed and high rates following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The aid comes in the form of a direct grant and covers the losses incurred by Deutsche Energy Terminal (DET) for operating the FSRUs until the end of their charter period.
