Oslo-listed Eidesvik Offshore is plotting an order for an ammonia-powered platform supply vessel.
The shipowner said Norway’s state-owned energy transition agency Enova is providing NOK 44.7m ($4m) in funding to help with the project.
Any firm newbuilding order is dependent on the company securing a long-term contract for the ship with “sufficient returns” to ensure its operational viability, it added.
