Singapore’s Eastern Pacific Shipping is the latest to take advantage of low shipbuilding prices with orders for at least $400m-worth of containerships.
The Idan Ofer company is said to have contracted Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for a series of 14,000-teu vessels with delivery from early 2020.
The deal is for four firm vessels plus two to four options. The containerships will meet the International Maritime Organization’s new Tier III emission standards.
