Ocean carriers had announced surcharges ranging from $1,000 to $4,500 per feu in anticipation of disruptions due to the US port strike.

But as most of these would only have gone into effect in mid-October or later, they had not impacted spot rates yet, said Judah Levine, lead researcher for freight rate benchmarking portal Freightos.
