A drive to bring rigour to the reporting of shipping casualties is nearing a major milestone.
The International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) has overcome a number of hurdles and now aims to launch a database of hull and cargo claims within months.
Its biggest challenge, IUMI says, has been to find a way of pooling information without breaching confidentiality.
