Liner operator CMA CGM has raided the charter market to bag a clutch of hard-to-find midsize container ships in a booming market.
The French carrier has tied up a pair of boxships controlled by Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac Maritime for five-year charters.
The 6,612-teu Cardiff and Swansea (both built 2014) have been taken at strong rates of about $40,000 per day, brokers said.
