Germany’s Vega Reederei is reentering the small coaster sector with a newbuilding order in China.
The container, bulker and tanker owner has placed an order for 10 3,800-dwt eco-coaster vessels to be built by China National Machinery Industry (Sinomach).
The contract was inked on 1 August for vessels with diesel-electric engines designed to provide substantial fuel savings.
