Matson is splashing the cash with a $1bn newbuilding deal for duel-fuel container ships at Philly Shipyard.
The Hawaiian boxships owner and liner operator said on Wednesday that it had signed an agreement with the Pennsylvania shipyard to build the three ships, with the first hitting the water in early 2026 and the other two in 2027. They will be able to run on LNG and conventional marine fuels.
