A carbon tax on shipping will generate billions of dollars — but how should it be spent?
That emerged as the billion-dollar question amid estimates that a carbon tax could raise between $60bn and $65bn in revenues every year.
The figure is based on a flat rate tax of $250 per tonne on carbon, Peter Jameson, a partner of Boston Consulting Group, told the ABS sustainability conference in Hamburg on Monday.
