Indonesia’s navy has denied that it asked a master to pay $375,000 to release a product tanker detained over an alleged illegal anchoring.
Two security sources told Reuters that the unofficial demand for payment was made to the captain of the 50,000-dwt MR Nord Joy (built 2018), which operates in Norden’s Norient pool.
