Belgian tanker owner Euronav is urging shareholders to reject the Saverys family’s bid to install “non-independent” directors to thwart the proposed merger with John Fredriksen’s Frontline.
Saverys-controlled shipowner Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB) wants to replace three of five supervisory board directors at an annual general meeting on 19 May.
The family is the biggest Euronav shareholder with 16.49% and wants to combine the company with its shipping decarbonisation operation CMB.Tech
