Energy major Chevron has been revealed as the charterer behind up to six aframax tanker newbuildings worth more than $350m that have been pencilled in at South Korea’s K Shipbuilding.
Brokers said the yard — the former STX Offshore & Shipbuilding — has signed a letter of intent for four firm ships and a pair of optional vessels for delivery dates in 2024 and 2025.
