Oldendorff Carriers has launched a coal-transshipment hub in southern Vietnam capable of handling Newcastlemax-size bulkers.
The venture is an alliance of three partners with the German shipowner teaming up with Welhunt, Vietnam’s largest coal importer, and Haivanship, which is a well-established tug and coal barge operator in South-Vietnam.
Oldendorff is to deploy a floating transfer platform (FTP) for the project, which will have a discharge capability rate of up to 25,000t per day.
