St Kitts and Nevis has dropped a bulker sanctioned by the US and refuted notions it was bribed into flagging it in the first place.
The registry told TradeWinds it removed the 18,315-dwt Light Moon (built 1996) from its registry by midnight on Wednesday, the day after the ship was blacklisted by the US Treasury Department.
“Immediately [after] we were made aware of the United States government’s concerns contained in its press release from the US Department of the Treasury, steps were taken to remove said vessel from the register,” the registry said in a statement.
