Bulker backlog builds as Indonesian coal ban talks drag on

Hopes that meetings scheduled for Wednesday would lead to the immediate lifting of a sudden ban on Indonesian coal exports have been dashed.

The talks between the government and the coal industry look set to drag on over the coming days as more bulk carriers arrive to become embroiled in the saga.

An Indonesian coal industry source with knowledge of the discussions told TradeWinds that a deal is being worked on that will allow producers that have fulfilled their domestic market obligations to resume exports.
