The 13-year international piracy operation off Somalia could be entering its final phase.
The United Nations Security Council has voted to allow overseas naval forces to continue to combat the threat of criminal gangs off the country's coast — but only for three more months, AP reported.
Usually, this vote has sanctioned another year each time.
However, the Somali government is keen to see an end to the international presence, after no successful attacks were reported on vessels since 2017.
