Greece’s Navios Maritime Partners is poised to spend a further $250m on midsize container ship newbuildings.
It has signed a deal for up to four wide-beam 5,300-teu vessels at China’s Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard.
Shipbuilding sources said the Angeliki Frangou-led company plans to order two firm vessels, plus options for an additional two ships, to be delivered in 2024. It is said to be paying about $62.5m
