Denmark's Scandlines has contacted a new ro-pax that will run for an hour between Puttgarden and Rodby with no emissions.
The shipowner has turned to Turkey's Cemre Shipyard to deliver the battery-powered vessel in 2024.
No cost has been revealed, but Scandlines said the 147-metre ferry will carry 66 freight units, increasing the current capacity on the route by 23%, as well as 140 passengers.
