Trader Vitol has ordered two new electric-hybrid tankers for its V-Bunkers operation in Singapore.
The company said this is the first time the emissions-reducing technology will be deployed in the country for refuelling.
The bunker tankers will employ "state of the art" energy storage systems comprising lithium ion batteries and a highly automated power management system to increase fuel efficiency.
