German accident investigators have been unable to explain the death of a rating on the 5,000-dwt bulker Askoe (built 2005) in February 2015 after the ship had transited the Kiel Canal.
The rating had stood down from his watch and was expected to rest. But his body was found the following morning by a colleague in a cargo hold access area.
