Seaspan Corp is poised to order up to two dozen intermediate-size containerships worth more than $2bn, shipbuilding market sources said.
The 7,000-teu boxship newbuildings are to be constructed at shipyards under the umbrella of shipbuilding conglomerate China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC).
The sources said the Hong Kong-based tonnage supplier is planning to order 10 dual-fuel vessels that can run on LNG in addition to marine fuel oil, although sources said it has also enquired about the potential for ammonia fuelling.
