The NYK Line-operated woodchip carrier that grounded off Hachinohe Port in Japan on Wednesday has broken into two.
The 21-strong crew of the 49,500-dwt Crimson Polaris (built 2006) has been rescued with no reports of any injuries.
According to the Japanese coastguard, the Crimson Polaris grounded in difficult weather conditions but was later refloated under its own power.
