An aframax tanker is heading into Indonesian ownership on the back of a charter to Pertamina.

But a related scrap deal highlights how the fortunes of the country’s shipowners are tied to the state-owned oil major’s charter contracts.

Jakarta-based Soechi Lines, one of the largest Indonesian tanker owners, has denied suggestions by brokers that it was behind the reported sale to Indonesian interests of the 110,500-dwt Bai Lu Zhou (built 2007) by China Development Bank for $14.25m.
