Bank of Communications Financial Leasing (Bocomm Leasing) has inked a deal for eight woodchip carriers worth about $310m — marking the Chinese leasing house's debut in the segment and its first newbuilding contract this year.
Bocomm Leasing has contracted China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC)-controlled Chengxi Shipyard to build six geared 64,000-dwt ships and two gearless 70,000-dwt vessels.
The order was placed on the back of long-term charters to the country’s largest paper manufacturer, Nine Dragons Paper Holdings.
