The US Coast Guard is soliciting comments on what rules and regulations are increasing costs to business or otherwise appear unnecessary.

The USCG is the second shipping-related government agency to seek such input. Last week, the Federal Maritime Commission said it was looking at ways to reduce the regulatory burden on the shipping industry.

The moves stem from an executive order issued in April by US President Donald Trump that aims to eliminate two existing rules for every single new rule issued and that seeks to keep regulatory costs flat for businesses.
