Winson Oil of Singapore is being linked with the purchase of a VLCC from DS Tankers of Germany.
It has purchased the 311,000-dwt DS Commander (built 1999), according to reports from European shipbrokers on Friday.
A price of between $16m and $16.5m is being placed on the Hyundai Heavy Industries built ship.
It would double the number of VLCCs in Winson’s hands should the deal be confirmed.
