The sexual assault and harassment of cadets attending the US Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) have eluded all efforts at a resolution, government officials admit.
Their comments come as the federal government prepares to bring in outside experts to carry out a “cultural assessment” at the elite maritime college and the Department of Transportation (DOT) refuses to allow the cadets to obtain their sea time on commercial vessels.
