As an executive board member of Bimco, Kaptanoglu became the first female vice-chairwoman of the organisation in 2013.
She also serves in several other capacities, including as a board member of the IMEAK Chamber of Shipping and the Board of Visitors at Piri Reis University.
In her acceptance speech, Kaptanoglu promised to carry out her task “working with honour, with enthusiasm and with ambition”.
