Aban Offshore has become the latest rig owner to see Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) ditch a charter contract earlier than scheduled.
The Indian company said it has received a notice of termination for the jack-up rig Deep Driller 1.
Pemex has decided to end the deal for Aban’s rig with effect from 1 June, three months prior to its original expiry.
The Mexican oil company has launched a cost reduction programme, which has seen more rig contracts suspended in recent months.
