The US Coast Guard could cut 13 countries from a list of top-performing flag states that allows ships to face fewer inspections.
Preliminary data show that half of the 26 flags that qualified for Qualship 21 last year will not pass muster in 2016, according to a Coast Guard presentation slides and a forthcoming announcement by the Marshall Islands Registry, which survived the cut.
