Germany's Reederei Buss has "secured its future" by entering into a partnership with compatriot owner Liberty One.
From January, the companies will control 33 containerships, bulkers and multipurposes (MPPs), with the Buss fleet contributing 17 of these.
Bremen-based Liberty One said: "This is a new perspective for Reederei Buss, a traditional company, facing challenging shipping markets.
"Having reached an agreement with the creditors of Hermann Buss GmbH & Cie KG, the company will be reorganised and its ships and competencies will be coordinated in close cooperation with Liberty One."
