Red dots litter the Gulf Coast region on a map — regularly published by US regulators — of proposed LNG export projects seeking government approval in the US and Canada.
Just one dot on the US portion of the map is black — the colour assigned to floating LNG projects.
Delfin LNG stands out among a flood of export projects in the US regulatory pipeline because it is the only one seeking approval of the US Maritime Administration (MarAd) and US Coast Guard (USCG) to install floating LNG vessels (FLNGVs, as Delphin refers to them) to export the gas, although other US projects not yet before regulators are mulling offshore vessels to liquefy US pipeline gas.
