Chen Deshun is the little-known shipowner behind the CNY 1bn transaction to take over effective control of resurrected bulker owner CSC Phoenix from Beijing-based Sinotrans.
Chinese press reports describe Chen as a “mystery buyer” but the Tianjin-based maritime entrepreneur is not coming to the shipowning table for the first time.
The recently announced surprise deal will see Chen’s own small dry bulk fleet merged with the remaining vessels of CSC Phoenix.
