The port issued the order 12 hours ahead of expected gale force winds from the storm, according to Gulf Agency Company (GAC).
The port is a major iron ore export site for mining giant Rio Tinto.
Masters have been ordered to ensure their vessels can put out to sea on short notice, while anchorages are closed to new arrivals.
The port as a whole could close tomorrow.
