Koch has taken the 163,000-dwt Istanbul and Atina (both built 2015) for 12 months upon delivery from China’s Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, both at a reported $29,500 per day.
The ships were ordered for a reported $61m to $62m each.
Expanding Ciner, which is backed by Turgay Ciner, has a fleet of 18 trading vessels, all bulkers.
It also has an extensive newbuilding programme, with two capesizes also on order at Bohai and four 9,000-teu containerships in the works at Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction.
