The incident aboard the 84,701-dwt FSO Cilacap Permina Samudra 104 (built 1975) took place in the Java Sea, about 1 nm south of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan.
Twenty-one crew members are said to have been evacuated, but one man was reportedly trapped in the engine room and is still missing.
Photographs of the vessel appear to show that the fire damage was restricted to the engine room and superstructure.
