The German river Rhine was facing disruptions for up to several weeks as
the result of a Dutch vessel sinking, according to the water and
shipping office in Duisburg.
The accident occurred near the German city of Xanten on the lower Rhine.
The vessel, which was loaded with iron rails, broke up, causing full
closure of the river and a massive traffic jam.
