May and June are traditionally quiet months for the VLCC market but not this year. It is hot, hot, hot out there and rates are positively on fire for the big ships and their smaller siblings.
As ever with the tanker market, it is difficult to point to one factor that has sent the VLCC sector into such a spin but market watchers point to a number of reasons.
